Board of Directors
Position: President
Term: One (1) year then transfers to director position for one year.
Duties: Preside at the general meeting and Board of Directors meetings; shall be bonded at the expense of the Association and authorized to sign checks issued by the Association in the absence of the Treasurer; shall approve all standing committee chairpersons and all Special committees. Keeps Association informed of SHRM activities, announcements, etc. Representative to State Council. Must attend 60% of the Board Meetings.
Qualifications: Prior year held office as President-Elect. Must be National SHRM member as well as a General member of the Human Resource Association of North Iowa.
Position: President Elect
Term: One (1) year then transfers to President postion
Duties: In the absence of the President or upon request, shall perform the duties of the President and shall perform such related duties as assigned by the President or the board of directors. In charge of securing programs for a one (1) year period of July-June after the beginning of their term. Must attend 60% of the Board Meetings.
Qualifications: Must be National SHRM member as well as General Member of the Human Resource Association of North Iowa.
Position: Vice-President of Membership
Term: One (1) year then may be re-elected for one more term.
Duties: Preside at general meetings in the absence of the President and the President-Elect. Responsible for the website communication and updates. Develop Association communications and public relations. Must attend 60% of the Board Meetings.
Qualifications: General member of the Human Resource Association of North Iowa.
Position: Treasurer
Term: One (1) year then may be re-elected for one more term.
Duties: Responsible for the collection and deposition of all funds due to, or collected by, the Association; shall be bonded, sign checks, and pay promptly all financial obligations: shall cause to be kept an accurate and complete record of all receipts and disbursements and render a financial report to the board of directors upon request; shall also submit to the Board of Directors a complete financial statement at the close of the fiscal year. Assist with collection of dues securing an audit committee as defined by the By-Laws. Must attend 60% of Board Meetings.
Qualifications: General Member of the Human Resource Association of North Iowa.
Position: Secretary
Term: One (1) year then may be re-elected for two more terms.
Duties: Responsible for informing members about meetings, for recording minutes at meetings where business is transacted, and shall perform all such other duties as are incidental to this office. Must attend 60% of Board Meetings.
May include, but not limited to:
- Members listings
- Arranging lunches for meetings
- Membership applications
- Collection of Dues
- Recommends/communicates payments etc. to Treasurer
- Central resource for communications.
Qualifications: General Member of the Human Resource Association of North Iowa
Committee Chairs
Membership: Encourage membership growth in the Human Resource Assocition of North Iowa and SHRM.
Workforce Readiness/Education: Promote educational events that contributes towards preparation to enter the workforce.
Certification: Arrange and facilitate study groups for preparation for HRCI certification exams. The Certification Chair shall be certfied at the PHR or SPHR level.
Legislative: Keep current on recent Legislative issues affecting human resource management and communicate these at local Association meetings. Shall promote initiatives for legislative attention on human resource issues.
Diversity: This position is selected from members who are not on the Board of Directors. Chair shall promote diversity among the Association membership. Shall be responsible for securing one diversity in the workplace program for presentation at an association meeting.
